About Glen Cove, New York
A City on the North Shore
Glen Cove is one of only two incorporated cities in Nassau County, with its own mayor and city government, home to about 28,400 residents (ZIP 11542) on the shore of Hempstead Harbor. This is the heart of Long Island’s old Gold Coast: the estates of the Morgan and Pratt families once covered these hills, and pieces of that era survive in the city’s parks and preserves.
Neighborhoods and Homes
Glen Cove’s housing spans more of Long Island’s history than almost anywhere else in the county: nineteenth-century Victorians near downtown, estate-area homes toward the Lattingtown border, mid-century capes and colonials in the family neighborhoods, and new waterfront condominiums rising at Garvies Point along the harbor.
Around the City
The waterfront defines Glen Cove. Morgan Memorial Park and Crescent Beach face Hempstead Harbor, Pryibil Beach fronts Long Island Sound, and the Garvies Point Museum and Preserve keeps the city’s geology and Native American history alongside the redeveloped esplanade. The Welwyn Preserve, a former Pratt estate, holds woodland trails and the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County.
Schools and Community
The Glen Cove City School District runs from elementary through Glen Cove High School. The city is one of the North Shore’s most diverse communities, and its downtown along Glen Street and School Street fills its calendar with seasonal festivals, a farmers market, and summer concerts by the harbor.
Glen Cove’s Neighbors
The city is ringed by the villages and hamlets of the Gold Coast: Sea Cliff and Glen Head to the south, Lattingtown and Locust Valley to the east, and Old Brookville inland. The LIRR’s Oyster Bay Branch stops at both the Glen Cove and Glen Street stations for the ride to the city.

The part most painters skip is the part we are known for
Prep, protection and paperwork. It is not glamorous, and it is the whole difference between a paint job that lasts and one that does not.
Your home gets protected
We move everything to the center of the room, use casters so nothing scars the floor, and lay heavy canvas drop cloths, never plastic sheeting underfoot.
Lead-safe certified
We are a certified lead paint renovator and have completed the full certification coursework, which matters on almost every pre-1978 Long Island home.
One-year written warranty
Every paint job is covered by a one-year warranty against all paint failure. It is written down, and you get a copy.
Crews you can vet
Every employee is vigorously screened with multiple references. Most of our people have been with Walker Painting for 15 years.
