About Oyster Bay, New York
A Historic Harbor Town
The hamlet of Oyster Bay (ZIP 11771, about 7,000 residents) is the seat of the town that shares its name, set on a deep harbor that has sheltered ships since the 1600s. Its most famous resident was Theodore Roosevelt, whose Sagamore Hill estate above the harbor served as the summer White House and is now a National Historic Site.
History on Every Block
Raynham Hall, the Townsend family home at the center of the Revolutionary War’s Culper spy ring, still stands on West Main Street, and the hamlet’s downtown keeps its 19th-century storefronts along Audrey Avenue and South Street. Each fall the Oyster Festival fills the waterfront, one of the East Coast’s largest street festivals.
Homes and Surroundings
The hamlet’s houses range from Victorians and colonials near downtown to wooded properties climbing toward Oyster Bay Cove and Mill Neck. Centre Island’s causeway begins at Bayville Road, and the estate villages surround the hamlet on every landward side.
The Waterfront
Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park and Beach sits on the harbor beside the marinas, and the working oyster boats that gave the town its name still harvest these waters.
Getting Around
Oyster Bay is the terminus of the LIRR’s Oyster Bay Branch, and its station house now holds the town’s railroad museum.

The part most painters skip is the part we are known for
Prep, protection and paperwork. It is not glamorous, and it is the whole difference between a paint job that lasts and one that does not.
Your home gets protected
We move everything to the center of the room, use casters so nothing scars the floor, and lay heavy canvas drop cloths, never plastic sheeting underfoot.
Lead-safe certified
We are a certified lead paint renovator and have completed the full certification coursework, which matters on almost every pre-1978 Long Island home.
One-year written warranty
Every paint job is covered by a one-year warranty against all paint failure. It is written down, and you get a copy.
Crews you can vet
Every employee is vigorously screened with multiple references. Most of our people have been with Walker Painting for 15 years.
